Joseph Zettelamier

Joseph Zettelmaier
Executive Director

Joseph Zettelmaier is an award-winning Michigan-based playwright and four-time nominee for the Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association Award for best new play. His plays include All Childish Things, Language Lessons, It Came From Mars, Dead Man’s Shoes, and many more! He co-authored Flyover, USA: Voices From Men of the Midwest at the Williamston Theatre (Winner of the 2009 Thespie Award for Best New Script). He also adapted Christmas Carol’d for the Performance Network. It Came From Mars was a recipient of 2009’s Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award, and won Best New Script 2010 from the Lansing State Journal. His play Dead Man’s Shoes won the Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award in 2011. He is an Artistic Associate at First Folio Theatre, an Artistic Ambassador to the National New Play Network and an adjunct lecturer at Eastern Michigan University, where he teaches Dramatic Composition.

Joey Albright

Joey Albright
Artistic Director

Joey has been working in the theatre his entire adult life.  He has served as an actor in close to 50 productions, a director for 10 productions and has filled almost every backstage position at least once. He was an associate artist at The Purple Rose Theatre and has been involved with almost every theatre in southeastern Michigan.  He has worked directly with Jeff Daniels, Lanford Wilson, Ernest Borgnine, and Mitch Albom.   

He currently serves as the director of The Corner Theatre Troupe, which is an outreach   program for The Corner Health Center in Ypsilanti, Mi.  He is well known and well connected in Michigan’s theatre community.

Anna Simmons

Anna Simmons
Managing Director

Anna Simmons has 6 years of experience working in the Southeast Michigan theatre community. After graduating from Kalamazoo College with a dual degree in Theatre Arts and Physics, Anna moved to Ann Arbor to work as an apprentice at the Performance Network Theatre.  She proceeded to earn her membership card with the Actor’s Equity Association in 2011 as a Stage Manager, and has since worked on six productions as stage manager, two as assistant director, and directed several staged readings. Anna currently works at the University Musical Society, where she has gained even more experience in arts presenting, marketing, ticketing, and management. In addition to arts management, Anna has ample experience in theatre production: scenic design and construction, props and sound design, directing, and acting.


Josie Lapczynski
Graphic Design Consultant

Josie Lapczynski has experience in a sundry of art forms. After graduating from Eastern Michigan University’s theatre program, she has worked as a professional photographer and painter, while keeping her theatrical roots nourished by acting in various productions. She has over two years of experience in graphic work, photo editing and restoration, and looking cute at the front desk at Paragon Design and Display in Ann Arbor. Her photography has been published in Dark Beauty Magazine, as well as, the Photographer’s Forum Magazine. Josie is excited to bring her artistic skills and experience to the ring for the Roustabout Troupe. She is the team’s go-to photo girl, and designs the company’s logos and graphics for promotion, social media, and advertising.

Alaina Oconnor

Marketing Consultant

Alaina O’Connor is an experienced writer and lover of the arts! She joins the Roustabout Team as a Marketing Consultant. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a film degree and a passion for writing, Alaina worked as a freelance writer for several online entertainment news websites and blogs. Her work has been featured on TV Guide Online, the Huffington Post, Cinemablend, and IGN. From there, Alaina developed her skills as a web designer, developer, and marketer. Alaina is beyond happy to be working with such great friends and supporting the theater community.

Rochelle Clark

Rochelle Clark
Grants Consultant

Rochelle Clark is pleased as punch to be a part of the Roustabout Team as a Grants Consultant. Rochelle has been working in development and fundraising with area non-profit arts organizations for the last several years and is eager to put her talents to work for this new venture. She is also an AEA stage manager who has had the pleasure of working with Michigan and regional-Midwest professional theaters.

Aj Waters

AJ Waters
Carnival Consultant

AJ Waters has worked for darn near every carnival, circus, county fair, medicine show, jamboree, and hootenanny in the ol’ US of A. Some of his favorites include, but ain’t limited to: Barnum & Bailey’s Greatest Show on Earth, the Chicago’s World Fair, Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, Luna Park, Cooger & Dark’s Pandemonium Shadow Show, Le Cirque de Rêves, and Joyland. He’s done everythin’ from hostin’ the Ferris Wheel to stakin’ the big top to tearin’ tickets and shillin’ cotton candy. He reckons he’s learned a thing about a thing. Favorite past-times include spinnin’ yarns, fryin’ up funnel cakes, and nappin’ in the shade.
